You know what would really make this story better? If it came out

I think so too.
I don't like the very concept behind SIs. I read fanfiction
because I'm
interested
in reading about the characters of the series.
I agree. While sometimes stories that focus on new characters are
well done, when the label is from a show I recognize, I'm reading it
for the characters I recognize and like....]
But I do like this story; its excellence, and general exception
from other
SIs, is
how it uses the SI format to hold up the mirror of an outsider's
perspective to the
series cast. So far, it's as much or more about them (through
Skyler's eyes)
as it is about Skyler. The Utena characters are all beautifully
written,
and Skyler
isn't particularly annoying, as SIs go. I realize this is
something of a
backhanded
compliment, but...
The "no foreknowledge" thing helps there, I hope. And we do try
to be honest about Skyler's flaws as well as his good points.
It's good to see that the story is beginning to diverge more
significantly from
Utena canon, and we're beginning to see hints (in the sequence in
the
library with Skyler and Juri) of just what he might have been
brought here to
do. This chapter also seemed to have less of Skyler brooding by
himself
(which is something that I didn't like in previous parts) and more
of Skyler
interacting with the cast (which is what I like to see).
Skyler's naturally introspective (one of the reasons he's an
otaku), but he *is* trying to be friendlier and actually talk to
people....
An excellent job all around. I just wish that the story would come
out faster;
if you're going to end on cliffhangers like this one, it's not fair
to make
us wait
so many months. :)
We'll see what we can do....Tune in next time, as Nanami watches
and takes notes during a showing of "Don't Leave Me, Daisy!"
SKJAM!
