First off, I'd like to thank those who have replied to this with
their helpful comments. ^_^
Guess it's time for me to speak up.
Anyway, Tangent, you are more or less right. This IS an alternate
BGC universe. The Magneto I am using here did not live during WW2, nor was
he sent to any concentration camp. This Erik Magnus Lehnsherr grew up during
the first years of the twenty-first century, born somewhere around 2005.
This would place him in his mid-twenties by the time of this fic.
He did, however, see his homeland destroyed by a rebel faction who
had come into possession of combat Boomers, before his powers had manifested
themselves. I used this not only as a bit of plausible background, but also
to give THIS Magneto a bit of the feel of the canon one. Alternate
characters do need at least some of the original to be recognizeable, IMHO.
Ed, I also agree with your assessment of Logan. Yes, given his
healing powers and great age, it can be very easy to slip him into BGC. In
fact, I chose him not only because of his age and experience with Japanese
culture, but also because he is one of the few X-Men characters I could keep
closest to the original. But I am going to adopt one of your suggestions. I
liked it, and it won't change what I want to write too much.
But the main thing is, I don't want to write a fic where BGC was
tossed into the Marvel universe. One where the X-factor is already well
established and the anti-mutant hysteria is rampant. That would completely
skew the BGC aspects of this fic, IMHO.
As for Xelloss (I didn't forget you ^_^), concerning your thoughts
on Quincy... maybe.
Anyway, I do have a backstory in place for this Magneto (and a
little for Logan, as well). One that is, hopefully, believable. Rest assured
I'll reveal it over the course of the fic. ^_^
Thanks again for the C&C! I really appreciate it!
