My response is simple. The concept seemed uninteresting to me (my first
thought on reading the summary post was "ho hum, another too-cool male
self-insert thinly veiled as an original character being chased by bad
guys and women alike."), the format (script) put me off from reading it,
and posting x chapters a day made me cringe (too much commitment). The
incessent C&C THIS FIC messages made me grumpy and the fact that it's an
original fic made me wary of its quality.
You have chosen a niche market at best. I should know; my attempts at
gathering original fics for a magazine produced one story. One. This
is fanfiction. People don't read original fanfic of even exceptional
quality, save the shamelessly fan-service-laden Kumiko (a well-written,
if guilty, pleasure) and Macho Caballo, which got the bulk of its
readership near the beginning when everyone knew or thought it was a
retelling of Ranma in an original setting.
I have no idea how you can gather readership, except to put a Ranma tag
on the story and trick them. Believe me, if I knew, I'd tell you. The
only thing I can think of is to have an engaging premise immediately
evident, a format nobody has to go out of their way to read, and some of
the most incredible writing in the joint. It's a hell of a lot of hard
work. But maybe it'll pay off for you.

Subject: [FFML] [C&C request] Is anyone out there actually
reading this
stuff?
Look, my buddy Ryo has been sending out chapters of our
original manga Bakayaro. Somebody had to have read it, yet
we're getting exactly NO c&c! We need it if we're ever going
to actually publish this stuff! I mean, you people will C&C
fanfics based on unoriginal ideas (which is fine, I enjoy
Ranma fics as much as anybody) but completely ignore the
original fics that actually need the C&C. If necessary, Ryo
will repost the chapters, but we really need some feedback here!!
Kenji out.
