Growth-Part 1

"Ahhhhh!" Ranma screamed as he felt himself falling, he twisted in the air and landed lightly on his feet in a defensive stance, he looked up and saw his father jumping out the window after him.

"Whatcha do that for old man!" Ranma said as Genma landed on the ground 10 feet from him.

"A true Martial Artist should be ready for battle at any time" Genma shot back, he then rushed his son fists flying towards the young martial artist. Ranma blocked the fists coming for his face and kicked the older Saotome into the koi pond.

"I'm not in the mood old man, leave me alone" Ranma stated coldly at the panda that emerged from the pond. He then turned and walked into the house to put on some clothes as he was only in his boxer shorts. "Didn't even wait till I was awake and dressed" he muttered under his breath.

Akane watched this from her bedroom window with a worried look on her face. Over the past few weeks, after the wedding fiasco Ranma had been less like himself, he practically ignored everyone, only speaking when addressed directly, and only then he used the smallest answer possible, which was either 'yes', 'no', 'I don't mind' or 'I don't know' it was getting very annoying. Akane sighed and left to get her breakfast.

Ranma was pissed at the old man, that was the first bit of decent sleep he had hand since the Saffron incident and he was woken by his idiot of a father. Granted it was only a few hours of peaceful sleep, but after having nightmares about Akane dying every night for weeks it was kinda nice. 'Damn' he thought to himself 'I can't take much more of this, I can't sleep 'cos of this nightmare and when I do the old man wakes me up. I ain't said more then 'hi' to Akane in weeks, so she probably hates me now. Especially after the wedding fiasco, she said that she know I loved her and what do I do! Insult her again!! I'm such an idiot!' Ranma sighed and walk down to get breakfast.

After breakfast Ranma and Akane walked towards school, Ranma on the fence as usual looking up at the sky thinking about what to do. 'I can't go on like this!' He sighs an looks down at Akane 'If only she could protect herself better I would not worry as much' he thinks to himself.

"That's it!" Ranma shouts out loud. Akane jumps at his sudden outburst and looks up at him.

'It's going to hurt her a lot, and me to, it could also.....'

"What's it Ranma?" Akane asks as she sees a small smile and then a frown appear on her fiancees face.

"Oh errr, nothin' Akane, I've got to go see some one I'll see you later." With that he turns and jumps to the roof of a nearby building and starts to head off in another direction.

"What about school?!" Akane shouts after Ranma, but he is already to far away to hear her.

'Fine' she thinks 'Go off and see one of your other fiancees, see if I care!' She sighs and says "Baka" to herself as she starts back towards school.

A few minutes later Ranma jumps down from the roof top to land with the same force as if he had just taken a single step. 'Sure am glad the Docs back' he thought to himself as he stepped into the clinic. 'Good there doesn't seem to be any patients at the moment, don't know how long this will take'

"Hey doc, you about?" Ranma shouts as he removes his shoes.

"Hello Ranma, I'm out the back, come on through" Ranma hears Tofu's reply drift in from a back room. He walk's through to the room Dr Tofu is in. He sees the Doctor moving around box's.

"It's good to see you again Doc, how was your trip?" Ranma asks as he helps moving box's.

"It was good thank you, I learned quit a bit"

A small smile crept onto his face.

"I think I might even be able to speak with Kasumi now without freaking out"

Ranma smiles back as he places a box down.

"That's good, she's missing you a lot I think, you can never quite tell with Kasumi"

They both have a laugh, knowing that nothing normally fazes Kasumi, or if it does you can never tell.

After the two calm down they finish moving the box's, and the young Doctor gets some tea for himself and Ranma.

"So what's can I help you with Ranma, aren't you suppose to be at school now?" He asks as he hands a cup of tea to Ranma and sits down.

He takes the cup from Tofu then sits opposite him.

"Well yes.... But I think this is more important. Did you hear 'bout the failed wedding?"

Yes I have, I was sorry to hear about that" The older man replied

"It's Ok, I don't think either of us were ready. How about the trip to China before the wedding attempt, did you hear anythin' 'bout that?"

Tofu takes a sip from his cup and thinks for a moment.

"Only rumours"

At this point Ranma runs through the events that happened during the trip to China.

Doctor Tofu looks at the young man before him, it wouldn't be apparent to most people but Ranma was very upset about what had happened. He hid it well, but the way he sat and the slight dampness in the corner of his eyes gave away that this had been a hard thing for Ranma to tell. To have your fiancee almost die and having to kill someone would be hard on anyone, but when that someone was a being that was supposedly immortal and could not be killed; no one should have to go through that.

' I wonder how powerful Ranma really is?' The Doctor asks himself 'To have been able to do the things he has, it's incredible'

"Then when Saffron was defeated I ran to Akane, I was sure she was dead. I think I said that I...err well l.l.lloved her but I can't remember, I just can't. Anyway she woke up and we headed back here. I can remember being filled with joy and relief that everything was over. Then our parents throw this wedding.<SIGH> Just before all the madness started I spoke to Akane, she told me that she know I loved her. I don't know why but I panicked and started calling her names!"

Ranma looked up and Tofu could just make out one tear as it rolled down his check

'Only human' the doctor thinks to himself as he sees the tear. ' For all his talent in the Art, for all his training, he is still only a 17 year old boy'

Ranma hastily wiped the tear away 'I should *NOT* be crying, men don't cry!'

"I could see the pain and hurt in her eyes, but I couldn't do anything, now I'm sure she hates me."

After the doctor pours them both another cup of tea he sits back down to think.

"Has she called of the engagement yet" he asks calmly

"No" cam Ranma quite reply

Tofu smiled reassuringly at the young man in front of him.

"If she hated you the engagement would be called off. I guess she is just upset with you at the moment. You need to talk to her.

"I haven't spoken to anyone since the wedding, apart from the odd 'Hi' and 'Hello'" Ranma sighed " I've been having dreams as well, nightmares really, 'bout Akane dying. Either I'm not quick enough or she tries to help me and is killed 'couse she's not good enough"

" You want to train her?" Asks the young Doctor, watching Ranma carefully. Ranma looked at Tofu surprised.

"How did you know?"

"Just a guess" he says with a smile " What's the problem"

"Well lets see, first If I start to train Akane the other girls are likely to try something to stop me and try to hurt her. Second the old men would try and get us married off again as soon as possible. Third I *DON'T* hit girls" He then thinks for a second and corrects himself "well I don't like to, especially Akane. And Last of all I have no idea how to train someone"

"Well Ranma lets start with the easy two. If you are to take over the Dojo and start to teach you will likely be teaching girls as well. You should no better then anyone, that a female body can take just as much punishment as a mans can. I'm not saying you go around hitting students full force, male or female; you hit them just hard enough for them to notice a mistake and to correct it."

Ranma sighs "I know, I just don't like to see her hurt"

"I know, but if she is going to learn you have to make her hurt a bit. As for how you train someone, that's more up to you, your going to make mistakes in the beginning as you have never trained anyone before. However I suggest you take your time in explaining things and be patient, everyone learns at a different rate"

Ranma nods as he thinks about what the Doctor just said. "So be patient and take it slow, OK I think I can do that"

"As for the first two problems, the other girls and your parents I have no idea. I suppose you could always go way somewhere to teach Akane"

Ranma looks at Doctor Tofu and a small smile appears on his face

"That's a great idea, I'd get away from everyone, and we could talk about how we feel 'bout each other."

Ranma's smile gets bigger

"And I know just the place!"

With that Ranma jumps to his feet and heads to the door, just as he is about to leave he turns to face Tofu and bows"

"Thanks for the help Tofu sensai

"Your very welcome Ranma-kun" The Doctor replies as he bows back.

"Why don't you come around tonight for dinner?"

"I don't want to be A burden" Tofu replies getting a bit nervous about seeing Kasumi so soon after he just got back 'Don't be stupid' he thinks to himself 'This is why you went away, to get control of yourself when your around Kasumi'

Ranma breaks the young doctor out of his thoughts.

"You won't be, everyone will want to see you." Ranma smiles as he adds the last part "especially Kasumi"

Ranma watch's as a stupid looking grin appears on Tofu's face.

"Well OK, I'll drop by later"

With that Ranma left the clinic and went to think about how he was going to train Akane.

This is my FIRST fan fiction so please be kind!!

C&C is always welcome as it is my FIRST fan fiction.

If you think Ranma is acting OOC I don't care! I'm the author! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (Evil laugh No13)

But really, he has just come back from China having someone he cares about nearly die and he's killed someone, I think he is aloud to change a bit after these events. Anyway its not real so who cares?? Its just a bit of fun. Hope you enjoyed it part two should be out soon.....Maybe?
