Hey,

"Happi bursdai toe yuu, happi bursdai toe yuu, happi
bursdai deero Kasumi, happi bursdai toe yuu!" everyone sang
in very badly pronounced English.  Even Ryouga, who could
speak English intelligibly (or at least could ask directions
in the language) went along with the horrible
mispronuciations, even as he wondered *why* everyone always
sang this song in English.  Oh well; 'ometedou tanjoubi'
just wasn't the same.

Um, actually, 'omedetou tanjoubi' would be the same, since it's what they say.  The Japanese I've met can sing the intelligibly, if they'd be bothered to sing it at all; I suspect that without any gaijin there, they probably wouldn't.  Also, the happy birthday song above reads kind of dodgy--if you're going to try the song being badly mispronounced, why not write it in romanized katakana?

As for the fic itself--well, I haven't read the prior story written by another author, so it's hard to comment on the build up to this.  Kasumi leaving home is as good a subject for a fic as any, but the reaction of Ranma is somewhat questionable.  To turn into the housewife of the Tendo household?  And even more, to submit to the demands of every member?  While I don't doubt that he could learn, and would even allow guilt to trick him into a certain amount of work, I can't imagine him actually sticking with it--especially once it started to get in the way of his training.  And I really can't imagine him putting up with any crap from either his Pop, or 'friends'.  I suppose it could happen, but the process of him turning into a housewife just didn't feel detailed or explored enough to be convincing--to me, anyway.  Rather, I read the fic with a sneaky suspicion that it is yet another fic looking to feminize Ranma and eventually hook him up for some R-rated action with Ryouga, or something....

With that being said, while I might not agree with the type of fic, I can't deny it's well written.  Well done; I guess it's just not the type of fic I like....
