Unless you count Yuka and Sayuri as major adversaries, you are
correct.

Compared to even Kuno, they're not.

Well, no. But I had to mention them.

I wanted to spread out the fighting as much as possible
so that Ranma would not dominate the story, nor be the all-
powerful, invulnerable, unstoppable force the way he is at
times portrayed in fanfiction.

I'm not critisizing you over the issue. I rather like the fact
that you did something most authors didn't. It's a pity you never
got around to using Saffaron though.

Oh no, I didn't think you were being critical here. I realized
that you approved of the way I handled Ranma. I just wanted to
explain exactly why I chose to take that tack with him.

As for Saffron, who knows? Maybe we'll see a sequel someday in
the undetermined future, where he just might feature prominently.
Unlike my other big fic, Chasing the Wind, TSG is actually set up
for sequels.

and so long as they are willing not to divulge or use HPG
technology, Comstar turns a blind eye to their growing power.

With the Library Core, the Confederation will eventually be able
to field their own secure HPG network. HPG and Jump technology
should feature quite prominently in the Library Core, rIght?

The acquisition of HPG technology from the Library Core represents
a tightrope that Akane and the Confederation must walk with Comstar.
At the moment, they still need Comstar, and they appreciate the
kind of clandestine heat the organization carries enough not to go
flaunting anything that would jeopardize Comstar's monopoly on
faster-than-light communications.

One of the things about the Library Core is that it isn't simply a
catalogue of technological goodies. It is mostly a trove of basic
science that has been lost to the Succession Wars, science that
must be relearned by individual scientists and engineers - which
are in short supply. Basically, Akane needs to found something
akin to House Davion's New Avalon Institute of Science in order
to get the most out of the Core, by training and educating as many
scientists and engineers as possible. It will take a few years for
the results to be felt, which is why Akane gambled on a decade with
the Kunos. Of course, any secrets she sells to the other states
must also be relearned in the same way, so it will take awhile for
them to catch up.

All of this will be explained again in the epilogues that follow.
