Amazing the things that give one inspiration.

To Allan Yonge on the FFML: your recent story was the best I've seen
inspired by the events of Tuesday the 11th. Certainly it was the best
thought out. I can actually see Usagi sealing her fate by refusing to leave
until everyone had gotten out. Much lesser people than she died doing just
the same thing. In Sailor Moon S Sailor Moon had to be dragged kicking and
screaming from the Infinity Academy, the school that was the base of the mad
Professor Tomoe, just before it was destroyed, as she was ure there were
stll people trapped inside. I never did believe Tuxedo Mask when he said
everyone had gotten out.

Nice, too, to see bin Laden be punished by _not_ becoming a martyr.

My problems with not just your fic, but all the others, is that--well--SM
may not be the best material to work with for something like this. Also, it
suffers from being--well, not subtle enough. At best anime--and anime
fanfic--can deal with issues of such gravity only at one remove,
symbolically as it were. I always thought _Evangelion_ was a better
commentary on the Second World War than _Grave of the Fireflies._

I am aware discussion of the events of Tuesday are out of order. Anybody
who's at all interested in my own thoughts (which will probably only include
myself) can read them at the Studio Poutine page, where, for the next few
week, they'll replace the normal title page. After that, they'll be shifted
to the regular archive.

I've entitled them "Second Impact."

Comments welcome.

Myself I should have a new fic to contribute shortly.
