Keeping my C&C short - I'd have to agree.  I read the fic, but lost
interest as soon as I saw the number of characters involved grow and
grow and grow...

BTW, this seems to be a common problem with megacrossovers (that is,
crossovers of 4 or more series).  The author focuses on introducing
the maximum number of characters and having them all interact, with
two consequences:
* Not much of a distinction between main and supporting cast - they're
   all "main".  Which means the reader has to care about them all.
   Which drives most readers away.
* The author spends so much effort dealing with the characters, that
   the plot gets shafted.  Which, of course, kills the story unless the
   plot was not supposed to matter anyway.  Minimal plots can be made to
   work for blatant parodies and lemons, but this is neither.
