*Finally rouses out of his torpor of course burnout and writes, even
if it is a response instead of another story*
And on to a fic that stirred up a bit o' controversy.
Ah yes, I swear, I really meant to respond to that. I guess it just
goes to show: make sure to check the sender's address before you post
your reply. I never got around to replying to (Max? unfortunately, I
don't have my old email logs anymore) comments. Instead, some valiant,
if vocal, champion leapt to my defense, and that is where the
misunderstanding began.
Heh. Not having read any other Bebop continuations, I can't comment on
that
aspect of it. Truthfully, didn't know there was that much CB stuff out
there, though I did come up with an idea of how things could have been
continued with an interesting twist or two.
My name is Douglass Weeks, and... I have a problem. I-I can't stop
reading fanfic.net.
The Bebop listing there has had a glut of continuation fics, a large
percentage of which simply have a horribly wounded Spike wander back to
the Bebop, where events then proceeded as normal. A large number of
them have Vicious surviving as well. Bleh.
Yes, that would do it.
Competency is over rated. Especially for hyper specialized cyber
surgeons.
Actually it does remind me overmuch of Robocop. The movie inspire this
at
all?
The closest I've come to seeing Robocop is the animated TV series that
used to play sunday mornings when I was younger. Cybridization has
always been one of my favorite sci-fi conventions (I've even read all
the Shadowrun cybertech source books, yet never even thought about
playing the game).
Don't really recall them having uniforms of any kind.
Maybe it's just me, but all the syndicate's minions seemed to where
very similar dark suits with sunglasses. Hence why I tossed the quotes
around uniform.
Eh? I thought they were equals. Protege impies Spike taught Vicious,
and
that doesn't ring true to me.
My impression was that Spike had been the one who'd originally
brought Vicious into the syndicate. I could be wrong, but they had some
time of close friendship before Vicious' ambition and Julia set events
into motion, and the thought of some kind of senpai/kohai affair
appealed to me.
Sir? Would think 'Mr.' would have been more applicable.
In the original script he was referred to as Vicious-sama, Sir
Vicious in the U.S release. I also like the way the 'sir' can be used
for an extra degree of fearful respect.
That's not a bad thing.
Well, to those in the Syndicate it's hardly an appealing prospect.
You think he would spend at least a thought for Julia. That's the
thing that
triggered his suicide run after all.
Right now Spike's figuring that he's being kept around just because
someone wants pay back in a major way. Deeper considerations of any
sort are far from his mind.
Nice to see they are doing this for self-centered reasons. Using Spike
as
their puppet could work to their advantage too.
They certainly didn't save Spike out of the goodness of their
hearts.
He gave in way too easy.
At this point I felt that the scene had run as long as it could
without becoming cumbersome, and it had to be wrapped up somehow. I was
trying to reinforce that he was leaving his old life behind, and at this
point he had no real alternatives.
Hmm. Ed tended to seek out trouble and enjoyed it more often than not.
Not
sure I buy this she wasn't happy bit.
I didn't say that Ed was unhappy, just that what she experienced on
the -Bebop- wasn't the right kind (okay, maybe that's a bit of
pretentious hair splitting, but I wanted to give an explanation for her
leave taking). The real point of this scene was just to let people know
I hadn't forget about Ed, although I'm not sure if she'll play any
further part in the story.
They should hook up with the cowboy that was Spike's equal. I have a
feeling
by his very nature he'd get them into trouble they'd have to care
about.
*twitch shudder twitch twitch convulse* Cowboy (or is it samurai now?)
Andy will _not_ be making any appearance whatsoever in this fic, unless
its him standing right beneath the bebop when it crashlands... (although
I am perfetly amenable to finding some way to work the Teddy Bomber in).
And it seems he's giving up way too soon on them.
I didn't pull through on this scene as well as I should have. It's
supposed to be obvious that this was his last token effort at his old
life; something of a token gesture.
That must be disturbing
And the least of his worries as things progress.
Hmm. Interesting. But since this is only part one, you'll not end it
like
this. Wouldn't mind seeing Spike truly bury what he once was, and just
exist
as something not Spike.
That's one of the themes I've had in mind since the beginning.
Unlike the fics I'm trying to write counter to, things most definitely
do _not_ stay the same.
Hmm. Interesting. Didn't suspect he was still alive, though I don't
know why
they are bothering if he is incapable of any movement at all.
In all honesty, this might've been a bad plan, but just before I
finished writing I read an excruciatingly bad fic which had Vicious
return in a very unsubtly done closing scene, and had the impulse to see
what happens if I return him to the mix in my own special little way.
No matter what I end up doing with Vicious himself, his continued
existence is going to be an illustrative factor in just
how a broken and driven a man Dagara is.
Overall, not bad. Not great yet either. Would have to see more to
judge it
and see where you are going with this. Prose flowed well and didn't
see any
grammar errors. Will look forward to more later.
Must overcome burnout. Stupid impending graduation course load...
Thank you for your time,

-Never Let Go-
Soldiers live. And wonder why.
Love makes the world go 'round, but it's cash that keeps the wheels
greased.
The secret of being a child is never knowing that you will one day die.
The
secret of being an adult is never forgetting that you once were
immortal.
Playing Final Fantasy 9 has made me deathly afraid of giant eyeballs in
the sky;
more so than the normal person.
Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the
streets
after them
"Looking back, I realize that I sold my soul for a pack of cigarettes.
Of
course, I can comfort myself in that she also gave me a lighter."
Sandra: Actually, the RDF command tried to conceal the Zentraedi
invasion as
well.
Matt: They must have felt mighty stupid when four million-odd ships
showed up.
Sandra: They did. Briefly.
Would the Japanese Emperor know that we children our bowing our heads to
him?
...he may be eating his breakfast... or he may be in the toilet... and I
can't
help giggling about the picture conjured up by the last image... the
Emperor is
in the toilet and somebody knocks on the door and says, "Your Majesty,
Your
Majesty! The children, the children! They are bowing to Your
Majesty!"... and
the Emperor says "Wait a minute! Wait a minute! I have my pants down!"
