Subtle poke at a certain Lawson fic, eh?
I kinda agree with you, though. The manga shows
Ranma has a very straight and masculine self-image,
which is why I could never really understand
"Outward Part". I just don't see him going for guys.
=)
What most people seem to forget is that, in essence, I agree. I agree with
the critics that say Ranma would never choose this. I wrote "Thy Outward
Part" to make another point altogether - that *if* Ranma were to chose to
live as a heterosexual female, it would only be after *tremendous*
difficulty. It was a reactionary fanfic - after reading yet another fanfic
where Ranma says, in essence, "Oh my, I'm stuck as a woman. Ryoga, come
hither!" I felt obliged to write TOP to show how, possibly, maybe, it might
come to happen that Ranma would get into a heterosexual relationship with a
man.
I like to think that it the story made its point to some degree, as the
number of stories that had Ranma gleefully embracing having sex with men
dropped considerably - or at least made an attempt to explain the sudden
mental shift.
I wrote the endless sequels because reaction to TOP was so overwhelming.
However, at no time did my conviction change - that Ranma, as portrayed in
the manga, would never totally accept being stuck as a woman, and would
never enter into a heterosexual relationship with a man.
But it's fun to imagine, neh? ^_^
