Subtle poke at a certain Lawson fic, eh?

I kinda agree with you, though. The manga shows
Ranma has a very straight and masculine self-image,
which is why I could never really understand
"Outward Part". I just don't see him going for guys.

I just would like to state here that I happened to enjoy
reading Thy Outward Part by Lawson and it really is fun
imagining Ranma as a girl. For the hour that was given
for "Thy Outward Role" I guess the author was successful
in bringing to the fore certain issues regarding Ranma's
sexuality.

I would like to point out briefly though to those who
say that it highly unlikely that Ranma would choose to
live as a heterosexual female, don't be too sure. At the
risk of being accused of taking this "too seriously", I
would like to engage everyone to consider that when Ranma
changes to female, his entire body changes to female.
This includes, among other things, brain functions and
feminine hormones.

Having said this, isn't it at least more than remotely
possible to think that IF Ranma gets stuck as a girl,
eventually, he will start to think and behave like a girl?

Looks like my little comment above has managed to make
some people feel insulted, particularly, Mr. Andrew Norris.
Please accept my apologies. No insult was ever intended.
I have a brother who is homosexual and I therefore have
nothing against them.

Let me just write a few sentences about the foundation
of my beliefs regarding this issue (at the risk of sounding
dumb and ignorant). My statements above were generalized.
There are always exceptions to everything. Furthermore,
I believe that sexual orientation is a choice.

People choose to be homosexual regardless of the hormones
(estrogen for females, testosterone for males) that run
through their bodies. Just like there *are* people who choose
to engage in alternative forms of sexual activity like bestiality.
Plus there is a whole gamut of factors that influence this
choice such as parental influence (or lack thereof) and
social conditioning, to name a few.

Going back to my statements, perhaps it would have been
better to have said "...he will start to think and behave
femininely?" instead of "...he will start to think and behave
like a *girl*?"

Finally, in the case of Ranma, if he does start behaving and
thinking in a more feminine fashion, then it will be because
he chooses to do so either consciously or subconsciously. Partly
influenced by his new chemical makeup or out of necessity. Who
knows. Lawson crafted a rather realistic scenario in his story
about how this *choice* was made.

Whatever. Again, I apologize for having insulted anyone.

Just my two cents -- DarkHorse
