"Pervert" in Japanese is "hentai", which can also
mean "transformation".  It's
a Japanese pun.

My particular take on Akane

Akane's defining characteristic is anger

She acts angry when she's worried about someone
She acts angry when she's sad
She acts angry when she's surprised
etc
etc
etc

sometimes she's even angry when she's angry

the change is that when Akane is happy she acts
happy...

In this case...Akane is still angry about the hentai
hordes and also is still a little guilty about beating
Tarre into unconsciousness a year ago and now tends to
be a little overprotective of her...so 

a) she's not as mad at Ranma (notice there were no
physical attacks on him) 

b) but she's suspicious of him for his apparent
interest in Tarre

c) now she's mad at him for leading Tarre to the
hentai hordes...even if he didn't know about them

d) yes...it is a pun and I was aware of it...I was
going to use jerk until I remembered that...

Kasumi is a better cook than Tarre (she taught Tarre
and is currently attending a cooking school)  Tarre is
better at the housework than Kasumi and she is much
better in the way of first aid... however, Kasumi was
used to being the woman of the household, and Tarre's
inaccurate describing of who got there first being
elder meant that Tarre treated her that way...and
Kasumi's basic nice personality is still very strong,
however, because she doesn't have the moral authority

Nabiki outright ignores her, or rather, humors her as
much as she does anybody else, and Akane doesn't like
to disappoint her, but does what she wants mostly...
