Okonomiyaki is NOT pizza by any stretch of the imagination.  You CANNOT eat
it with your hands.  Can you really eat pancakes with your hands?  The
batter has everything mixed in it, not dropped on top as a topping... unless
you are making it Hiroshima-style (which also includes Yakisoba...like Chow
mein).  To top things off... the Japanese would look at you like you are an
idiot, because they know what pizza is... there is Domino's, Pizza Hut and a
few Japanese brands in the country.

The point of the conversation was that it wasn't Pizza.
And yes, you can eat pancakes, especially *lukewarm* ones, with your hands.
I've stuffed my mouth with 'em once or twice on the way to class from the
Campus Center.
The idea behind it was that someone I know calls it 'japanese pizza' so I
had this character call it that, too.

And in the eyes of this New Yorker, Domino's and Pizza Hut aren't the best
examples of pizza, anyway.
