Ken makes a negative comment about a story on the FFML. Nice to see
some constants remain in the world...

Cologne remembered what had happened when some

smacking his girlfriend in front of the store.
Cologne was about to do something herself to teach the
young man a lesson, but Shampoo beat her to it.
I wonder if Cologne or Shampoo would really think this. Considering their
marriage custom of a woman marrying an (outside) man who defeats her, they're
just as likely to think that hitting one's girlfriend is perfectly appropriate
and that if the girl doesn't fight back that means she really likes him.
This is SO open to interpretation it's ridiculous. For one, the people
involved in the Nyuchiezu marriage traditions are martial artists, with
the codes and responsibilities therein. For another, there is some
argument as to the ultimate purpose of the Nyuchiezu, and protecting
women may be one of them.
And, for a third, any guy who would use fear to control his girlfriend
(and that's what it is, really - control through terror) deserves an
attitude adjustment of some type, whether by normal legal or extralegal
means - and, somehow, I see the Nyuchiezu using extralegal measures.
About the story in general, it was interesting at the start, but it seems
you're stretching things in order to get rid of the Ranma cast in a hurry. I
can't see most of the cast endangering Midori or attacking Ranma when he
doesn't want to fight. And while I'm not a great Akane fan, I can't see her
sleeping with Ryouga (and why doesn't she get an abortion?),
Again, seriously open to interpretation. For one, the situation is a
powderkeg - and Midori's birth lights the fuse pretty quickly. I don't
know if you've had dreams important enough that seeing them crushed
seems like the end of the world, but the reactions in such times are
nothing else if not extreme. As for Akane... I'll give you that it's a
bit of a stretch, but we're also forgetting one other thing here: these
people are being influenced toward evil, if only subtly. Happi is in
the house, after all. And, as for why no abortion, believe it or not,
but some people do have a moral opposition to such procedures. It's one
thing to seduce a man for revenge; it's another to destroy a life.
My view on it is that the work is just fun to read. It's not grandiose
or seriously well-written (indeed, a good manual spell-check would be
good), but Thryth has a way of setting up these great scenes and having
fun with them. And, more often than not, the writer having fun with the
story will mean that the reader shares in the fun. Thanks for the
entertaining story, Thryth.
