As stated in the FAQ, personal abuse is not allowed on the FFML. You can
attack a posted fanfic as strongly as you feel it deserves, but when you
switch to attacks and name-calling against the author, that's another
matter.

Let me emphasize that whether someone deserves to be flamed is not the
issue. The issue is that flames, deserved or otherwise, are against the
list rules. If you feel the need to get personal, take it to private
mail, or to the ffml-admins address if you want to call our attention to
a possible violation of the list rules.

Thank you, Gary!!!!

Personally, given some of the more or less "Horrible" things that we've seen
on the FFML (refering to some of the snuff and rape (and other unsavory
brands) fics that have unfortunately made their way on the FFML at times...
fics that I and I'm sure others find repugnant) this fic hardly even rated a
bump in the road of offensiveness.

And though I know that the reason for you stepping in was not to protect
"The authors right to write whatever he wants" and that it was most likely
purely to just enforce the rules of the list in an impartial and evenhanded
manner... I just wanted to add one thing here.

Whether some people on the list like it or not... part of the beauty of
speech is that ALL views are protected.
(especially when they were obviously meant as a parody or exaghurated
mockery of a particular point of view or stereotype .. just look at Shampoo
for example.. (or Xian-Pu or howevery you wanna spell it) and look at the
racial stereotyping that goes on with her)

Personally I didn't find the fic all that offensive (in fact it was pretty
ammusing)... and though some may be offeneded by it.. if you're gonna defend
free speech.. you have to defend the right to all views... even the ones
that you personally don't agree with.

That said... I'm sure Gary's gonna prolly get hate mail from some people
that are gonna accuse him of defending a racist... or some other nonsense
like that....All I can say is this; Gary... you go right on enforcing the
rules impartially the way you have from the begining.
