Hamster-ken...
I know Eternal Lost Lurker was doing a Hamtaro fanfic, but I don't think
I've seen anyone do a Ranma/Hamtaro fusion/crossover yet. (Then
again, I'm not ahead on all the works that've been posted in that thread.)
Of course, finding a point to such an act would be staggering all by
itself. (I mean, the easiest way to do it would be "Ryoga falls into
Spring of Drowned Hamster" and Akane gets a cage and everything...)
Non-powerful. Inoffensive. There for a cuddle or fuzzy warm support
whenever needed.
Well, okay, she had an issue with "fuzzy". It just did not do for a
proper modern lady to grow her body hair to the same proportionate
lengths. And she was not exactly small, either, though perhaps she
could be forgiven, given the relative ages of those she comforted,
and the undertone of "non-powerful" was definitely visible in her
aura, masking the true power that was every Tendo's birthright.
Still, Kasumi highly doubted anyone would ever suspect she had copied
Ranma's techniques into an entirely new domestic art.
To make matters worse, I've just taken an environmental ethics class
and I'm stuck in the mode of, "Now, is that a Anthropocentric standpoint,
an Animal Liberationist view, or a Holistic Ecologist perspective?"
The answer: Nothing's ethical anymore.
Amelia stared, her jaw literally scraping the ground.
This was only anatomically possible because she had already been prone
on her stomach, resting in her sleeping bag but unable to get to sleep.
Whatever it was had roused Sylphiel and Gourry as well; the latter had
gone to stand watch with Lina. With no others present to disturb at the
moment, the two girls had naturally fallen to chatting when return to
slumber seemed impossible. The topic eventually drifted to what they
shared but the other magic user present did not, at least not nearly to
their extent: white magic.
Amelia had founded her beliefs in magic on the concepts of heroism and
justice. It was nothing special, to her: healing the sick and injured
was as much a part of being a hero as fireballing the minions of evil,
or dramatic gymnastics to strike terror into their hearts (and avoid the
swords they so often carried...maybe, she pondered, she should get
Gourry to teach her someday). Indeed, she dreamt of the day she could
pull off some ultra-powerful white spell easily the match of Lina's
Dragon Slaves, though she had not the faintest clue what would suffice.
But now... "You're kidding, right?"
"Nope. What's true and right and just to you isn't true and right and
just to everyone. Do you think your relatives tried to seize power
just because they wanted power for themselves?"
"Well, yeah. Villains are always selfish like that. They even summoned
Mazoku!"
"Amelia, even you have prayed to dark gods before. Black magic can be
put to good ends, just as white magic can be put to evil ends. It's
harder to corrupt magic that way, but it can be done."
"I...well, it's hard to believe, but if you say so..."
"Then consider this: say there's a wild beast terrorizing a village.
Fortunately, they have walls which the beast can't penetrate, but anyone
venturing outside is soon torn to pieces. Along comes a traveller who
puts the beast to sleep, then slits its throat. The traveller takes the
corpse inside so it can be butchered, to feed the town until its farmers
can collect what's left of their harvest, and so the beast's head can be
mounted as a trophy. But once inside, as all the village's children are
poking and prodding the dead beast, the traveller casts Ressurection,
then Ray Wing to escape. Not a single black spell, and the damage was
done with white."
"B...but..." Amelia tried to reconcile the errors, trapped herself in a
mental loop, and fainted.
Sylphiel chuckled. She had done quite well, looting that village after
its inhabitants were dead. And the only witness who survived to tell
the tale was one young lad whom she took to her hometown and tried, over
and over again, to bed. Even as a youth, her magical talents were top
notch, such that the Forgetfulness spell had gone well beyond merely
erasing that incident from Gourry's memory. Still, she would have to
kill him, someday. After she bedded him.
