Anything except '-- ' or lines containing just '_' are fine by me.  Those
can cause trouble for some email clients when trying to reply.

True, but this is an instance of her thinking of Ranma first before herself.
Just doing it in a subtle way, for a change, since I don't do much subtle.

The words seemed to stir Kachiko in some way as well, and she hurriedly
removed her hand from Akane's shoulder. Turning back to Nabiki, she

said,

"All I need to do is finish brushing anyway and then you can have the

sink.

In fact, I'll show you my Ultra-Quick Brushing {Style : Technique}."

Hmm. Yes. Technique is probably better.

Nabiki said, "No thanks. I don't need to learn how to brush my teeth

from

you yet again."

It was interesting to see why the older and possibly wiser Kachiko didn't
teach that technique to Nabiki the first time around.

Kachi didn't teach any martial arts techniques to anyone. She abandoned that
part of her life to the past. She thinks similar thoughts in this part in
school as well.

Kachiko reexamined her garments. "I suppose you're right. I'm not used

to

other guys being around. Dad used to be the only other man here, and I

liked

prancing around in my underwear because he thought it was so improper.

He

was so uptight it was really annoying. He never let me do anything that
wasn't absolutely 'proper' for a woman. Be happy your old man isn't that
strict. Of course's he's way more perverted than my Father {is : was},

still, I

think you've got the better end of the deal." Kachiko exited the room.

Nope. She hasn't realized he's dead yet, and since she saw him a couple of
days ago (her time) she still refers to him in present tense.

Everyone in the room could practically hear the gears of Kachiko's mind
turning.

Kasumi promptly swept up the sand that came out one ear.

Azusa turned on a dime, picked it up, named it Marcelle, and skated up

to

Ranma. She looked at the item he held. "It's just a bottle cap."

I missed the dime the first time; that was really sick.

'sick' or 'slick'? One does carry better connotations than the other. :)

In case anyone was wondering, no, Kachi getting a harder time this

chapter

was not the result of people complaining about ANC syndrome. It was

always

going to turn out this way. It's whatever has the most humor potential

at

any given time, and the Hinako-Kachiko-Soun thing was planned from the
beginning.

Hinako's competition is probably one of the few things that might get

Kachi

interested in Soun.  She's a lot like Ranma that way, if there's a

contest,

she has to compete.

More on that later, as you might suspect. That is only the beginning of
Hinako hanging loose with the gang.

BTW, someone mentioned the seeming lack of 'direction' this series has taken
so far (though keep in mind we're only 4 shorter chapters in). While it's
true most of what has gone on has been more or less simple reactions to
Kachiko's unexpected behavior, as well as introducing most of the players
that will have a role in the fic, that should be changing slightly with the
next chapter. We still need a participant or three, but there at least one
scene of a more  serious nature, as well as Ranma characters starting to act
on their own rather than merely reacting to Kachi's actions now that they
are starting to adjust to her presense. It's still going to be humor
emphasis, so don't expect things to become Waters Under the Earthish, only
very select parts of this are meant to be the slightest bit serious, which I
think some readers might not have realized yet since I tend to inject a
higher level of seriousness in most of my work. But you might notice a
subtle shift in things as more pieces of the story come into place. Of
course whether or not it will all work as I hope or if it doesn't, only time
will tell.
