A "total bitch" character?  You must mean Kodachi.  Or perhaps Shampoo?
How about Nabiki?  Cologne?  It's obviously not Akane as the manga has
shown her to be upset with Ranma for mostly valid reasons.  Anime Akane,
you can argue...  Then again, anime anyone in the Ranma world can be
argued...

My point is that although you are obviously correct in most of your
critique/rant of this awful piece, you shouldn't use fanfic-conventioned
information in correcting someone.  The "Akane is a bitch" idea is purely
fanfic-convention based on the anime Akane which, in turn, is a skewed and
out-of-propotioned caricature of the original Akane from the manga.  The
ideas of "Nabiki is a mercenary", "Ukyo is Ranma's bestfriend with whom
he can talk about his problems" and "Kasumi is oblivious to everything
around her" are also fanfic conventions.

While I agree with you on the most part, I have to take issue with a couple 
of your FF Convention selections:
*  Nabiki in the manga shows herself to be quite the mercenary AND a 
bitch.  In fact, Takihashi goes to GREAT LENGTHS to show just how much of 
an "ice queen" and money-grubber she is.  A good example is when Nabiki is 
engaged to Ranma, (she rents him out to the highest bidder) and the story 
arc where she's in a spendthrift competition with the nutcase with the 
ventriloquists dummy. (she indentures the family)
*  Note that I never said Kasumi was oblivious, just that this 
"Kasumi=bitch" thing was TOTALLY OOC.  I wouldn't have a problem if this 
were an Altiverse fic, but this fic supposedly is supposed to diverge at 
the point when Takihashi has established two things; Kasumi can get 
emotional about things in a negative/angry way (When Ms. Hinako tries to 
"put the moves" on Soun), and Kasumi is alert and aware of her 
surroundings. (she tries to crawl from her sickbed to stop Akane from 
trying to cook)  Now, I'll admit that I may have the order of the time line 
wrong in my head (I read the Manga out of order), the point is, the Kasumi 
in the manga and the Kasumi presented in this fic are not the same, or even 
similar, /at all./
