Because screwing up names is a major peeve of mine, I have to comment on
Dr Tofu.
In the Asian naming format of <Family Name> <Given Name>, his name is Ono
Tofu. In the Western form, his name is Tofu Ono.
Thus:
Saotome Ranma --> Ranma Saotome
Tendo Akane --> Akane Tendo
Ono Tofu --> Tofu Ono
Ninomiya Hinako --> Hinako Ninomiya
Some people ask why Dr Tofu is called Dr Tofu instead of Dr Ono. One
answer can be found in a practice that some professionals employ. They
would have their patients/colleagues/students refer to them as <Title>
<Given Name> to create a less tense atmosphere and a more familiar
relationship. OTOH, Dr Tofu may still be called Dr Ono in professional
circles.
Also, if you think about it... Ono is a real Japanese family name. And
more importantly, that is officially the family name that Takahashi
Rumiko-sensei gave him for her manga.
