Quoting Jerry Levine || patchmonkey <patchmonkey@patchmonkey.net>:

I'm sure this will get modded in a short while, but as far as "anime" is
defined, any form of animated cartoon is "anime" (it's a French word the
Japanese borrowed for that meaning, and then was borrowed by English
speakers to refer to Japanese Animation).

First of all, for the benefit of people who may be using email filters, remove
the [ADMIN] tag if you're going to make a public reply to an [ADMIN] post. This
is said explicitly in the list FAQ.

Secondly, while it's certainly possible to quibble over the strict definition of
manga or anime, it seems to me that there is little value in doing so. What
really matters is keeping list content within the spirit of what people on the
list are here to read. Few of us would probably want to see South Park or
Spongebob Squarepants fanfiction here, and those who would probably already
subscribe to other more appropriate venues.

Most of the shows listed are anime-inspired, and especially in the case of
"Teen Titans GO!" and "Totally Spies", whose creators have stated that they
are Japanese Animation with an American touch, I don't see why one wouldn't
consider them "anime" in any case.
