Nope. Not if the REF has a code of military justice even remotely
resembling the common points shared by most 20th-century Western
nations. And since Tenchi mentioned a JAG investigation, I suspect it
does. Edwards gets a nice, legal trial, with a lawyer. *Then* he gets
spaced. If Tenchi just blew him out an airlock, *he'd* be the one
facing a court-martial. And he'd be convicted.
Actually, there are a variety of circumstances in military law
where the IMMEDIATE execution of military personnel is
not only legal, but required. For example, cowardice in the
face of the enemy. If Tenchi spaced Edwards, he'd wind up at
a court martial of his own trying to justify his actions. Depending
on the circumstances, he could very well come out of the court
martial with a medal, or in shackles.
