What *you* fail to understand is:

1) Not everybody thought it was fun.

2) The people who didn't think it was fun have a perfect right to say
so.

3) The author, in turn, has a perfect right to ignore those people and
continue writing in whatever manner he sees fit.

4) Should the author give up this right and quit writing, it's his own
decision, and no one else's.

Actually, that brings up something I wanted to question for some time.
It's pretty much a given that, should an author/creator request that people
stop using their creations in their fanworks, that most (creditable) writers
will do so.

It is my understanding that Sharp, upon learning that other writers were
using WH&P universe as a setting for their own fics, without his
permissionasked that they stop, until such time that he completed his
work. Many complied; some didn't.

My question: Should all the writers have waited untill Sharp finished (or
at least seemed to), or did they have the moral right to post?
Did Sharp right is asking them to hold off? These other authers were
writing fics set in another writers playground; isn't it an unwritten
rule that you don't do that?
