Subject: [FFML] Re: [Fanfic][Ranma/SM] Relatively Absent: Chapter 10
okay I must have missed something, I've reread all 10 and both SS
and I still can't find the connection between Hotaru's and Ranma's family
Anyway one problem I'm having is the treatment of the Tendos by the police
I'm fully aware of the difference between the American and Japanese
police, (I was in the US Navy
and spent a lot of time in Yokosuka and Sasebo), but my point is if the
police finally took action at
the Emperor's "request" they would be very careful how they went about it
with everything fully documented
and demonstratively "above board".
Perhaps a change so that the "body cavity searches" took place in a
Police Station and fully video taped with multiple witnesses...
still within the letter of the law but extremely humiliating
Just my to cents worth
Keep up the great work!
Dave
Mark, sorry I gotta agree with Dave. 15 years of studying Japan and over 5
living in Japan just tells me that you've played up what the police would do
way too much... at least "off the record." The modern Japanese police
aren't like American police... they aren't about personal power trips, etc.
They simple are an uncaring bureaucracy... and in Japanese tradition they
document EVERYTHING. Gotta have the "shouko”(evidence) they are always
screaming about on tv shows in Japan (quite embarrassing to falsely accuse
someone). Don't forget Japan is all about appearances... in every way.
Otherwise this story is cracking up to be pretty good. Can't wait for
more... and esepcially when the action begins.
