Well, I suppose I can take a break in playing Neverwinter for this:

Darn clouds blocking the lunar eclipse... but I had to stay in and write
this little snippet anyway before someone else got to it. I may
eventually expand this, but for now, it's just a single scene.

Most fics start from a single scene. Let's see how this one goes.

Genetic Engineering
An Azumanga Daioh spamfic

Tomo marched triumphantly to Sakaki's desk and leaned against it.
"Hey, Sakaki! What do you think of genetic engineering?"

Oh, this is already a bad sign. :)

Sakaki stared back blankly. "Genetic engineering?"
"Yeah! You know, when they alter animals' genes to change them."
Sakaki tried to picture a cat wearing a pair of denim pants. "Do
animals wear jeans?"
Tomo blinked. "No, I'm talking about DNA. You know, the stuff that
determines how big you are, and how many legs you have, and what color
your hair is, and stuff like that."
Sakaki's mental picture changed into a giant mutant cat with seven
legs and patches of green fur. She shuddered.

Yeah, that is pretty grim for her. She usually can't visualize nasty things.

"Against it, then? Well, looks like it's unanimous in our class,
then."

I'd cut one of the 'then's

"You're taking a vote?" asked Sakaki.
Tomo shrugged. "Well, Yomi brought in this article about how they're
genetically engineering cats so people won't get allergic to them, and
Chiyo thought -"
Sakaki was on her feet in an instant, holding Tomo firmly by the
shoulders. "Where can I get one?"

That works in the middle of the series, all right.

Interesting scene. I can't tell if it would be humor oriented or series,
though.
