No kidding.
In the event that you revise this story, I recommend adding more with
the Ben Grimm character to it. Ideally, in this sort of fic, the
punchline should make the reader go "Aha! That's what all that stuff
was about!" but in this case so far as I can tell the only hint to the
identity of the crossover character is the brief mention of the rings,
and by changing that line and the end it could be about more or less any
character. I don't know enough about this incarnation of the Thing to
offer more specific advice about what could be done, though.

I remember it well which says something about my age, I fear...
Heck, *I* remember it well enough that I began to suspect who it was
when the customs officer noticed the interlocking design of the rings.
Am I pathetic or what?
IIRC, the actual premise was that for SOME reason, Ben Grimm had in a failed
attempt at a cure, been trapped in a teenage body, and the Thing could be
unleashed with the rings... it was a typical bad attempts at a Marvel to TV
toon, and was as lame as it ever could hope to be.
You ain't missing anything Trust me.
Well, yeah. But it still made a for nice blast from the past.
