Subject: [C&C] Re: [Fanfic][Final Fantasy VII] Everlasting Lilac - Chapter 1
More delayed C&C.
Standard C&C Disclaimer: All the below is my only occasionally useful
humble opinion, my only occasionally correct grammatical and spelling
corrections, and/or my only occasionally funny humor.

Hi all. Just a couple of notes. This fic can be considered a companion
piece to my other Final Fantasy VII fanfic, All But Blood, which can be
found at my website at http://www.akane.org/fanfiction/.
Special C&C Disclaimer: I am not familiar with All But Blood; do forgive
any deficiency in the C&C resulting from that.
Don't worry, each fic can stand alone. At least, I hope so. ^^;
Zack Forrester. SOLDIER 1st Class under the command of General Sephiroth
in
the ShinRa Company's military. He said goodbye to me in this garden of
blooming daffodils on the rise overlooking my mother's house, kissed the
tears from my closed eyes, my cheeks, my lips, and promised to return as
soon as the mission was over.
That was five years ago.
Nice opening.
Thanks.
At first, I searched for him. I combed the net for any news of his
mission
to the little mountain town of Nibelheim on the western continent, but
there
was nothing.
...the net? Maybe some of the more recent material added it, but FFVII'
world never really struck me as having an Internet. *shrug*
Well, when I wrote this, it was before playing Dirge of Cerberus, and I was
merely speculating based on the technology shown in the original game, such
as what was shown on the Midgar trains and in the Shinra building. Playing
Dirge of Cerberus, however, has not only confirmed the existence of internet
technology, but apparently it's practically "Ghost in the Shell" advanced.
I suspected that the technology of the original game was at least advanced
enough for the 'net, since I've always thought that Cait Sith is essentially
an AI, created by Reeve, that can transfer from one robot body to another.
I was gratified to have this hunch confirmed by Dirge of Cerberus. What we
may never know is *why* such an advanced AI is housed in such a silly body.
(Of course, I have a theory on that as well, and even wrote a fic about it a
while ago, but it's pure speculation -- as yet unconfirmed.) ;) But this,
and the existence of other robots and mecha-type enemies in the game made me
figure that if the technology is advanced enough for robots, they've got to
have a 'net. During the time period that this fic takes place, with ShinRa
in control, it's no doubt regulated and censored up the wazoo, but it's
there all the same.
Basically, I spend altogether too much time contemplating the inner workings
of the FFVII world. ^^;
Hmm... wound up not having much in particular to say, but I didn't catch
any other errors or find any places where I saw obvious grounds for
improvement, and my comedic muses can be terribly inconsistent. I
enjoyed reading it, and I'll be keeping an eye out for more and probably
checking out that "All But Blood" you mentioned when I have the time.
Thanks for taking the time to give some feedback. It's greatly appreciated.
:)
