Finding reliable beta-readers has always been a difficulty I've noticed.  I had an eight chapter story that had six different beta readers over the course of posting - with the longest single stretch with one pre-reader being the last three chapters.  If anyone has recommendations about how or where to find good pre-readers, I would be very interested.  Short of the whole... kidnapping them and tying them up in my basement thing.
