I get what you're saying.
One weird thing I noticed is that, a while ago, I would get a message from mail-lists I was part of that my account had bounced something, but there was no reason for it to bounce.  Plenty of space, and I check in daily.

It hasn't happened in the past year (to my knowledge) but it's something to keep in mind.
