Amen, brother.  Since I moved my forums from Crapatalk (formerly Yuku)
to MyBB running on my own site, I've watched as spammers by the dozens,
sometimes by the literal hundreds, try to batter their way in.  MyBB
integrates very well with www.stopforumspam.com and Project Honeypot,
though, so a lot of the defense is handled for me.  Combined with a
suitably idiosyncratic set of security questions, plus setting things
such that I have to manually approve every new board member before
they can post, I only have to personally deal with maybe one bad
actor every couple months, and that only to confirm they *are* a
spammer and decline their membership.
